Watcher Defined

Watcher, seems a simple word, appears innocent in its meaning. We are all watchers from birth till death from cradle to grave. We learn from our watch. When we see a tree and watch it carefully we will find there are a lot of things to learn. If we see a river with a spread eyes, we can also learn many things consciously and subconsciously. If we look at ourselves we can learn what is in us - courage, cowardice, courtesy and other human traits submerged in us. While watching Games or Cinemas, we also learn. If we want to do outsourcing we will need to be watchful, or the matter can slip from our eyes and mind. So the English poet Wordsworth has said, “A thing of beauty is a joy forever”, for the watcher. Since birth to death a human being watches that he is alive. So he is a watcher of his life time.

New born child as a watcher

A new born child is not only crying, he cannot speak nor move, but with his open eyes he watches everything in front of him. This enables the child to adjust with his newly found environment by which he gets the vitality of survival, unknowingly. He becomes an innocent watcher. The child watches whom? Basically to recognize Mother.

When the baby was in womb there is nothing to watch. After he comes to the world light falls on his eyes, shadows appears in his eyes, different shapes come to his eye-sight and he cries. Then he find safety and reliance in the lap of his mother and sleep sweetly. As the river flows constantly, the time also proceeds on, and the baby tries to watch everything from new angle of view. He begins to learn and come to know the people around him. He watches the people making sound with their mouth or by hands and with laugh. They tender him. He watches the expressions, hear the sounds, and realize the tendering with joy. He also tries to respond, try to laugh, try to make sound, and try to show the impressions. What seems new to him, he watches staring all along. When he falls down from bed or from standing position, he feels the pain and learns not to fall again. If he watches other baby, he tries to tender, as we do. He watches the day, watches the night and learns to differentiate between day and night. He watches that everybody tries to take attention of him with a specific sound and realize it is his name and then respond accordingly.

Watcher as a student

A student, is to learn and he learns by watching, the bad effects and good effects. Such a student becomes a selective watcher, as required to build his future career. The student has to watch, the teaching of his teachers to implement lessons successfully. The student has to watch his steps, rightfully placed to go up to higher level. A student watches as he has to transform himself into adult. As such, student has to acquire the qualifications of obedience, discipline, perseverance. So a student has to watch the development of his mind and body to become a dignified person of the society. The twinkling’s of little stars high up in the sky watched by a student brings his inquisitiveness to know about creation of the whole universe such as the sun, the moon, planets and the endless open sky and open space above him. He becomes an ardent student of Science. Student life is a turning point from where he enters into path of politics; he watches democratic movements, demands of the political parties and the meaning of self-right of the people. The seed in sown in a student to know what is freedom and what is subjugation. A student has to be watcher, but a watcher need not be a student.

Watcher on Maturity

A matured man, watches applying his conscious. So he becomes a responsible watcher. He is to take decision for his own betterment. He watches the development of his maturity, he attains in him by which he flourishes as a complete man.

Watcher of Nature

Some find, immense pleasure in watching natural beauties, the creation of Al-mighty. Such watchers can be treated as mystic watcher. These watchers try to discover the mysteries of nature, if any super-natural phenomenon is hidden there.

Watcher as Detective & Animal Watcher

Watcher as Detective

These watchers become notorious or famous by their motives in watching. He watches with a suspicious mind which creates misunderstanding among people around him. This watchers are to be observed carefully as they are supposed to be problem watchers. But the watchers, who are genuine detective, they have become world famous by their intuition, intelligence and perception. We describe here some paragraph from a story named ‘Hound of Baskerville’ of the world famous detective ‘Sherlock Homes’ to realize his watching capabilities as detective.

Every day, Sherlock Homes get up late from bed. Today it’s remaining unchanged. Now he is having his breakfast and I (Watson) examining a stick standing behind him. Last night a visitor came to meet us and return back as we were not at home. It is his stick.
The stick is made of wood with round head and near the head the stick wrapped with silver plate. Few words engrave in the plate,

“To James, MRCS

- Friends of CCH, 1894”

“What do you understand from the stick, Watson?”

Be startled I look at him as it is not possible for Sherlock to watch me as I was standing behind of him!

“How do you know what I am doing! Do you have eyes behind of your head!”

“No, but I have a polished silver cup in front of me. Anyway, now tell me, what you understand?”

“I think” I tried to follow the way that Sherlock Homes thinks, “with the title MRCS, it is easy to guess that the owner of the stick is a doctor, and he is aged and an elite person. Everybody, especially his friends like him. That’s why they give the stick as gift.”

“Nice! Very nice!!” Sherlock Homes said.

“Perhaps he practices in a village and likes to visit his patients on foot.”

“Why do you think that?”

“Because the metal cap at bottom is eroded and mud glued.”

“Exactly!” Homes comments.

“Then look at the line engraved, ‘friends of CCH’. ‘H’ perhaps the first word of ‘hunt’. May be the doctor likes hunting or have some friends of a hunting club, who give him the gift.”

“Really Watson, I am impressed! Actually you always guided me to grab the right clues.”

Night Watcher

These watchers guard against anti-social activities, keeping watch in the darkness of night. They are valiant watchers. These watchers are useful who keeps security for the society.

Watcher as Reformer

In this category we have social reformers, religious reformers. They watch to rectify the bad aspects from the society and the persons engaged in nefarious activities, harmful for the society and forbidden by religion. They can be attributed as watcher having qualification of saint.

Watcher as a Journalist
Journalist and Watcher cannot be separated from each other. A journalist, from his head to toe, must have qualities of a watcher. The Journalist has to watch, happening of his country, events of the world, before he writes.

Watcher in solitude
These watchers watches themselves in their lonely hours to find peace of mind. He efforts to watch from where the universe came into being and ultimate goal of life? He finds himself buried in his watching. He can be treated as a devoted watcher.

To avoid loneliness they visited various tourist spot here and there as well as home and abroad.

In every of life we have to be watchful for survival, but to be watchful is not the end, it is only beginning. Are we aware our creator Al-mighty God watches us, full time? As per religious ordains as stated in holy Quran and Bible- two Angles invisibly placed on the shoulders of every man, records all deeds and misdeeds of every seconds and after death, all men are to be revived to live on Dooms-Day or on the day of Judgment to receive rewards or punishment that is to be transferred to the Heaven or to Hell by the verdict of Al-mighty God. So, a watcher is in abiding to be watchful of his doing under rules and regulations. This is the criteria of a watcher. So ultimately watcher shapes himself as a responsible person of the society. For a watcher it has become imperative to always remember that he also watched by the two Angles. Here lays, the meaningful culmination of the mysteries of the birth of mankind.
