Watcher as Detective
These watchers become notorious or famous by their motives in watching. He watches with a suspicious mind which creates misunderstanding among people around him. This watchers are to be observed carefully as they are supposed to be problem watchers. But the watchers, who are genuine detective, they have become world famous by their intuition, intelligence and perception. We describe here some paragraph from a story named ‘Hound of Baskerville’ of the world famous detective ‘Sherlock Homes’ to realize his watching capabilities as detective.

The stick is made of wood with round head and near the head the stick wrapped with silver plate. Few words engrave in the plate,

- Friends of CCH, 1894”
“What do you understand from the stick, Watson?”
Be startled I look at him as it is not possible for Sherlock to watch me as I was standing behind of him!
“How do you know what I am doing! Do you have eyes behind of your head!”
“How do you know what I am doing! Do you have eyes behind of your head!”
“No, but I have a polished silver cup in front of me. Anyway, now tell me, what you understand?”
“I think” I tried to follow the way that Sherlock Homes thinks, “with the title MRCS, it is easy to guess that the owner of the stick is a doctor, and he is aged and an elite person. Everybody, especially his friends like him. That’s why they give the stick as gift.”
“Nice! Very nice!!” Sherlock Homes said.
“Perhaps he practices in a village and likes to visit his patients on foot.”
“Why do you think that?”
“Because the metal cap at bottom is eroded and mud glued.”
“Exactly!” Homes comments.
“Then look at the line engraved, ‘friends of CCH’. ‘H’ perhaps the first word of ‘hunt’. May be the doctor likes hunting or have some friends of a hunting club, who give him the gift.”
I am very happy as Sherlock Homes never admire me such before, feeling little proud to think that I almost understand the way, that Sherlock Homes follows.
Sherlock Homes took the stick from my hand and give all his concentration in it. Once he took the magnifying glass and looked again to the stick.
“Yes . . . . . very interesting. Some decision can be taken easily from this stick.”
“It there anything that my eyes missed?” I asked him with a little proud.
“My dear Watson, I think, most of your analysis is wrong. But you are right that the doctor do practice in village and walk a lot.”
“We cannot tell further more from the stick.”
“No, no, dear Watson, I think the doctor got this stick from his hospital friends, and as the abbreviation is CCH, it means that the name of the hospital is ‘Charring Cross Hospital’. But he is not a staff of the hospital. No doctor, being a permanent staff, goes to village to practice. May be he is a House Surgeon, or House Physician – little above to a senior student.
“It can be” I tell with frustration.
“I am confirm that he got the stick as gift when he retired from the hospital.”
“It is a possibility.”
“As you told, he is not an aged person. He left the hospital just five years age, and as, he was a little above to a senior student, I think he is near thirty, who is polite, absent minded and not much ambitious. He has a dog which is a little bigger than Terrier but smaller than Mastiff.”
I laughed at Sherlock Homes to hear his analysis about the stick. “We cannot appraise doctor’s behavior or can tell about the dog.”
“Dear Watson, it is very simple to know about the doctor’s behavior, analyzing the stick. If not polite, no one get friends, who give gifts. If not absent minded, he cannot left the stick, if he is ambitious, he cannot leave the hospital, his prospect to become permanent.
“What about the dog” I told desperately.
“It is a habit of that dog to bite and carry the stick to its master. You can find the spot of bite in the middle of the stick. Analyzing the size of jaw, it is clear that it is bigger than Terrier and smaller than Mastiff”, by telling this Sherlock Homes went to the window, “and I am sure about it and yes . . . . no doubt, it is a curled hair brown spaniel!”
I am astonished to here the details about the dog. ‘Is it possible to explain the color, hair and specify the species of a dog from a stick!’, I thought. But what Sherlock Homes said till now, is very reasonable and I know those will be similar. But the color and the species of the dog! I am confused. “Are you an astrologer? How do you so sure about the dog?”
“Because I can see the dog in front of our house with the doctor!!”
So, what do you think about the watching capability of Sherlock Homes? We cannot be an extreme watcher like Sherlock, but can be more watchful.
Another interesting thing about the intelligent writer, who reflects his sharp watching through his creation ‘Sherlock Homes’, thought that, he will be memorable for his other novels. But his watching (analyze) in this regards prove wrong as he is famous for his created character ‘Sherlock Homes’. Even subsequently, ‘Sherlock Homes’ became more famous than his creator, Sir Arthur Conan Dowel!
Animal Watcher
These kind of watchers is adventurous. Such as bird watchers, wild animal watchers. To watch the habits of wild animals and birds is not an easy tusk. These watchers must have patience and endurance.
