SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
SEO means ‘Search Engine Optimization’
Definition: If we
search for a website entering a keyword using Google, yahoo or Bing browser,
the browser shows a list of websites as search results. This kind of search
results contains hundreds, in some cases thousand of sites listing by pages
(eleven sites are shown in each page). But we basically browse the sites that
shown in the page 1. In a survey by Google, it shows that 75% visitor enters
the first site of page 1. So, if we create a web site and wish to get visitor,
the site must be shown in first page. To lift a site on top of the search result
is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
How: If we want
to lift our site we have to do,
1. On page optimization
2. Off page optimization.
On page optimization: 1.
Submit the site to Google, Yahoo, Bing
2.
Create Meta Tag and paste it to the site
3.
Create a site map and submit it to Google, Yahoo, Bing
For on page optimization we need 1.
Google Webmaster Tools
2.
Bing Webmaster Tools
3.
Google Analytic Tools
**Note: Google/Bing Webmaster Tools are used to submit site and sitemap.
Google Analytic Tools is used to know about the details (i.e. visitors,
position) of the submitted site. To use Google/Bing Webmaster Tools, we must
have mailing accounts with Google and Bing.
Off page optimization: 1.
Create back link
2.
Social bookmarking
3.
Directory submission
4.
Forum posting
5.
Guest post etc.
Important things for starting SEO
for a web site:
1. Domain Name
2. Keyword
3. Title
4. Unique
content
5. Back link
6. Hosting
7. Visitor
8. Loading
speed of the site
1. Domain Name: Choosing a
better domain name is the most important part to create and optimize a website.
Domain name should be similar to its contents and keywords.
2. Keyword: By writing
a word or few words in search bar, a visitor finds out the sites that he wants
to visit. These words are called keywords. We should choose a keyword after
analyzing its monthly search and competition. A keyword with a good monthly
search and low competition results a better opportunity to lift the website top
of the search list.
For analyzing the monthly search and competition of a keyword, we can
take help form Google AdWords/(recently changed
to) Planner Tool. Primary data of a keyword can
be seen on the top of Google Search.
When a huge competition found with a keyword, it is better, not to work
with that keyword. But if have to do, a tail can be added to the end of that
keyword. It is called long tail keyword. In this way one can lift his website
to the top with that keyword.
3. Title: Generally
there is a title on the top of every website. It is called ‘Website Title’.
Besides there are also other titles, which are known as ‘Post Title’. It
appears on the top of a post to highlight about the post. When a keyword is written
in search bar, browser (i.e. Google) shows the ‘Website Title’ first and then
‘Post Title’ in the search results. So, it is also very important to select
better and relevant titles as ‘Website Title’ and ‘Post Titles’.
For instance, if the name of a site is ‘www.watcher/learn-earn-entertainment.com’;
Website Title, ‘Watcher: IT Learning, Online Earning, Read newspapers, Watch
TV, Movie download’; if one of the Post Title is ‘Put a step to earn: Learn Photoshop,
Illustrator, SEO, Video Editing’; and someone search with ‘online earning’; then
the browser will show “Watcher:
IT Learning, Online Earning, Read
newspapers, Watch TV, Movie download: Put a step to earn: Learn Photoshop, Illustrator, SEO, Video Editing”;
the site address below it and a brief description of that post at the end.
4. Unique content: We have to
use unique contents for our site. If we copy the contents form other sites, we
will be caught and Search Engine (i.e. Google) will not give any priority to the
site. If so, it will be a great hit to the SEO work. Besides uniqueness, the
contents should be related to domain name and keyword. Minimum of a fifteen
unique content is required to make the website affluent. The basic design of
the site must be completed and the homepage should be well-linked.
5. Back link: Back link
is the incoming link of the site. The site with a good quantity of back links
takes the prevalence from Search Engine.
6. Hosting: It depends
a little that the website, that we created, is a free web or we have purchased
its hosting. Though it depends a little but it depends.
7. Visitor: Visitor is
also a condition, to appear our site in first page. From the beginning, if we
can manage a margin of visitors, Search Engine will give importance to our
site.
8. Loading speed of the site: If the
loading speed is fast, it will be easy for Search Engine (i.e. Google) to crawl
the site. Besides, the visitor will enjoy visiting the site. If the site takes
a long time to load, the visitor will get annoyed and quit the site without
visit. So, to make the website fast, we should keep our high resolution images,
videos or audios in the back pages, not in the home page.
Besides quality, configuration, theme is also play an important role to
lifting the site up in search result.
